Winter Snook

Freshwater Snook anyone?
I love this place! It's not just anywhere that you can go into a freshwater estuary and find an abundance of saltwater species. I like to test my fishing skills with various species in freshwater and saltwater alike.

I will sometimes set a goal of only catching a particular species with a particular bait using a particular retrieval method. On this day, it was freshwater Snook on a swimbait.

It's a little bit of a different game to spark a reaction from a freshwater Snook. In freshwater, they have less predators, they are not adjusting their feeding migration according to the tide, and it's almost as if they mimic Largemouth Bass...

Whatever the case may be, I had a blast catching these one of a kind fish in freshwater. Who'da thunk...

What's your favorite freshwater fish to catch?
